You walk up the nearest driveway. The entrance to the road is nearly fully obstructed by the overgrowth covering the entrance. As you walk up the winding dirt trail, a cool breeze flows around you and you pull your light jacket tight around your body. “at least it’s not raining” you say out-loud.
Almost as if it heard you, the sky utters a fantastic BOOM followed by the sound of imminent torrential rain.
You force your legs to go faster. At the top of the driveway, framed by the dark clouds and the lightening is an old mansion. With a mind to avoid the rain, and also hoping beyond hope that maybe whoever lives here has some gas for your car, you jog up to the front door. Just as you make it to the porch, the rain hits.
